Huntress

This was inspired in part by my recent trip to Alaska. Although I didn't see much wildlife we did see a bison at the zoo which seemed to impress strongly on me, and what wildlife we did see now seems symbolic, a warning of the changes about to come in my life and the medicine needed to accept them. Big changes: Impending divorce, a very unexpected new love, and most importantly the death of my mother. The bison is important in Native mythology and is a symbol of protection, female strength, groundedness, and abundance. I chose a young girl to bear these qualities as a sign that she is still needing to learn and mature. She is strong, silent, and patient, a spirit that is wise beyond her age, open minded, and perceptive. I took this picture with my new camera and am pleased with it, it's pretty straight and not blurry. I'm still learning to mess with the settings and also with the lighting around the image, but this is a pretty good shot.
